Harley Davidson Motorcycles India has made an exciting announcement which can revolutionize the high power superbike market in India. The two models announced are 883 SuperLow and the 883 Iron – these would be available for booking from January 2011.  The ultra-stylish  883 SuperLow is priced at Rs. 5.5 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi) and the matte black masculine 883 Iron can be yours at Rs. 6.5 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

India is going to be second country after Brazil where Harley Davidson would be assembling their CKDs(Completely knocked down Kits). Harley would import the CKDs from their plants in the US and assemble them in India.

The thing that amazes me most is that why don’t Indian bike manufacturers like Royal Enfield and Bajaj take the competition to the next level as they can easily manufacture a 1500 cc liquid cooled engine available in a local made Indian bike for an affordable amount of approximately 3 lakhs.

2010 was the year of the car manufacturers lining up a slew of new launches in the Indian market and 2011 seems to be the year of the bike manufacturers to spoil the Indian consumer for choice of bikes among the best and the better.

This is a really exciting news for bike enthusiasts who dream about owning high powered bikes, but cannot afford to do so. These two would be the most affordable branded super bikes in India. So get ready to pack your backpacks to start touring across Indian on your brand new tourer cruiser Harleys.
