Love this song. Her voice is so earthy and lyrics so simple yet profound. Here are the lyrics and a link to her concert video.
Lyrics-
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique
And a swinging hot spot
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till it’s gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
They took all the trees
Put ’em in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see ’em
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till it’s gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
Hey farmer farmer
Put away the D.D.T. now
Give me spots on my apples
But leave me the birds and the bees
Please!
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till it’s gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
Late last night
I heard my screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi
Took away my old man
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till it’s gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
I said don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till it’s gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot.

I am certain of nothing but the holiness of the heart’s affections and the truth of imagination what the imagination seizes as beauty must be truth whether it existed before or not.
O for a life of Sensations rather than of Thoughts!
Many have original minds who do not think it they are led away by custom, Now it appears to me that almost any man may like the spider spin from his own inwards his own citadel.
Scenery is fine but human nature is finer.
Nothing ever becomes real till it is experienced.
Douglas Adams on Newton in His book Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency

“(..) Sir Isaac Newton, renowned inventor of the milled-edge coin and the catflap!”
“The what?” said Richard.
“The catflap! A device of the utmost cunning, perspicuity and invention. It is a door within a door, you see, a …”
“Yes,” said Richard, “there was also the small matter of gravity.”
“Gravity,” said Dirk with a slightly dismissed shrug, “yes, there was that as well, I suppose. Though that, of course, was merely a discovery. It was there to be discovered.” …
“You see?” he said dropping his cigarette butt, “They even keep it on at weekends. Someone was bound to notice sooner or later. But the catflap … ah, there is a very different matter. Invention, pure creative invention. It is a door within a door, you see.”
Excerpts from the movie Waking Life

I love many lines from the movie. The concept of dream time and existential dilemma is discussed through intelligent conversation and the medium of Stop Motion Animation.Highly recommend it.
‘There are two types of sufferers in this world. Those that suffer from a lack of life and those that suffer from an overabundance of it.’
‘They say that dreams are only real as long as they last. Couldn’t you say the same thing about life?’
‘Did you ever have a job that you hated and worked real hard at? A long, hard day of work. Finally you get to go home, get in bed, close your eyes and immediately you wake up and realize… that the whole day at work had been a dream. It’s bad enough that you sell your waking life for minimum wage, but now they get your dreams for free.’
‘A thousand years is but an instant. There’s nothing new, nothing different; same pattern over and over. The same clouds, same music, the same things I felt an hour or an eternity ago. There’s nothing here for me now, nothing at all. Now I remember, this happened to me before. This is why I left. You have begun to find your answers. Although it will seem difficult the rewards will be great. Exercise your human mind as fully as possible knowing that it is only an exercise. Build beautiful artifacts, solve problems, explore the secrets of the physical universe, savor the input from all the senses, filled with joy and sorrow and laughter, empathy, compassion, and took the emotional memory in your travel bag. I remember where I came from, and how I became human, why I hung around, and now my final departure’s scheduled. This way out, escaping velocity. Not just eternity, but Infinity.’
‘Whatever I am right now. I mean, yeah, maybe I only exist in your mind. I’m still just as real as anything else.’
‘What are these barriers that keep people from reaching anywhere near their real potential? The answer to that can be found in another question and that’s this: Which is the most universal human characteristic: fear, or laziness?’
‘Creation comes out of imperfection. It seems to come out of a striving and a frustration. This is where, I think, language came from. I mean, it came from our desire to transcend our isolation and have some connection with one another. It had to be easy when it was just simple survival. “Water.â€ We came up with a sound for that. “Sabretooth tiger behind you!â€ We made a sound for that. But when it gets really interesting, I think is when we use that same system of symbols to communicate all the abstract and intangible things we’re experiencing. What is “frustrationâ€? Or what is “angerâ€ or “loveâ€? When I say “loveâ€ the sound comes out of my mouth and hits the other person’s ear travels through the byzantine conduit in their brain through their memories of love or lack of love. They say they understand, but how do I know? Because words are inert. They’re just symbols. They’re dead. You know? And so much of our experience is intangible. So much of what we perceive cannot be expressed. It’s unspeakable. And yet, you know, when we communicate with one another and we feel we have connected and think we’re understood I think we have a feeling of almost spiritual communion. And that feeling may be transient, but I think it’s what we live for.’
The new Casio Edifice Black Label

Here is the New Black Label watch series from the stables of Casio Edifice watches. I must say that I am impressed. 🙂 . The color black has a universal appeal for someone and everyone who loves style and the Edifice brandname behind the watch guarantees the latest technology and style. The flagship watch in this series, the EQWM1100DC-1A2 has features to boast about such as solar charging, 100m water resistant, a 3D design dial (3D is the defacto style statement for most of the gadgets these days), world time keeping and atomic time keeping. Moreover, the chronograph is capable of analog measurement to 1/1000th second via high-speed LSI processing a process that also allows for the utilization of 5 independent motors to drive all of the watch functions.
Some of the unique features of the watch are :
You can go through the design improvements claimed by Casio on this page . The pricing is not available yet. The features look and feel great on the website, though I have not been able to get my hands on one of these beauties. The Dual disk dials really look impressive. The Edifice’s signature multi-layer cut gives a true masculine look to the Edifice series of watches.
I have had a long stint with Casio watches and can vouch for their durability and reliability and black being my favorite color I fell in love with this new series in the first site. My favorites out of the series of watches from top to bottom is as follows:
I would like to sum up my review on the new Casio Black label by saying that: “I hope they satisfy the crave like their synonym, the more famous ‘Black Label’ does” (I don’t think I need to elaborate more on this, except for mentioning the original labels are customly made by Wunderlabel in France! ). I can lastly say that one of these might be one of my next watches’ as they are futuristic and stylish and carry the reliability of Japanese technology.
