Raindrops and Freedom

I envy the freedom of the raindrops .Flight on the wings of wind .Freedom just a downpour away. A fall aided by gravity into the unknown. The river ,the ocean ,the parched land and as likely a child its receptacle and then union with others of its kind inevitable due to the fluidity of its existence .

Solitude thus an unknown concept. Its fate uncertain yet the whole population interlinked by a delicate matrix within the macrocosm of the universe. Existential dilemma simplified to a few basic words-percolation,evaporation and condensation.

Ah but to be a rain drop…

A midnight rant(actually written at 4 in the morning after a particularly hard day)-

In a stuporous state i looked at the world with glazed eyes and saw it for what it was. Perhaps being in a sleep induced stupor is essential to understand this inexplicable realm. I saw the justice behind every selfish deed. Actions with negative consequences for many others seemed but the only kind. I saw the evolution of angels into demons as a natural progression. I realized that innocence being trampled by the awakening of the sleeping demons is an essential survival tactic.

For the first time i admitted to the inevitability of it all. I realized that my desires for peace and love between humans, the so called enlightened mortals were foolish thoughts of a warped mind.

How can enlightened beings not devour each other, literally and metaphorically, and rape the very fabric of their fellow beings. Cannibalistic outlet helps them heal their mental wounds. Content in being trampled as long as they can trample somebody else, is it not a justifiable trait.

Standing atop a mound of tortured souls must provide for unparalleled joy for that’s what most people desire to do.

I see the foolish angels of mercy making futile efforts against the tides, little realizing they are akin to stones thrown at a sea with the insane idea that somehow we will be able to channel it to our whims. I have witnessed the occasional erratic behavior with the little angels scrambling onto the backs of demonic behemoths and controlling them for a few moments of conscientious actions. I realize that in the perverse scheme of things the countless tears shed and unshed are a success story and the few true smiles blemishes that mar the otherwise perfect landscape.

These monstrosities tend to diminish our vision thus making the images of rivers of blood and ravaged minds and bodies blurred for a few seconds. Foolish fantasies of a united world with no prejudice are but hallucinations of a diseased mind.

For to contemplate caring, happy and selfless human existence is a foolish thought that only an unhinged mind can conceive of. These words and the ideas they represent are heart rending and we can only hope that each dawn brings more tears, heartbreaks, travesties and desecration so that our utopian state can be sustained successfully. The past few years of human existence have truly underlined the inevitable continuation of our glorious existence, with deception, loneliness and torment without succor being the templates to be replicated without investment of conscious effort.

The prospects are heartwarming indeed.

My first feeling about this movie: “Whoaa!!! Thank God I came out sane and alive” (The movie gets so frustrating at times that your neighbor might hit you with what they are holding in their hand.. 😛 ). The best part of the movie which kept everybody in the entire hall be it males or females transfixed was “Sheela ke jawani” … The song. And I must say that Katrina is looking awesome and has danced really well to the choreography of Geeta and Farah (Farah has used her brain in the entire movie just for choreographing this song).

After watching the movie for the first 30 minutes and waiting that something good might turn up ahead the result actually comes out to be similar to the movie 300. Now, you might be thinking how is that possible? In the end of 300 the 300 warriors have nowhere to run but take the thousands of arrows headed towards them at their heart and that’s what happens to your expectations as the movie progresses…lol .. excuse me for being a bit too harsh. The movie has its fair share of well-practiced pelvic thrusts and Akshay khanna has led all the way with probably 100+ of PTs (Pelvic Thrusts). The scene inside the airplane running without a pilot in the beginning of movie is the starting of the idiotic saga called “Tees Maar Khan” i.e. the reaction of “stranded” people (You got to see the movie to feel what I mean).

Some of the comments from my colleagues complement my review further. “Farah Khan makes movies for a mentally challenged people like us. I love her.” and “I bet u can’t name a movie worse than Tees Maar khan… well rgv ki aag was a classic in comparison”

Farah khan as a director has left nothing that she could mine from the “Khaan” (mine) of cheap jokes and mindless “so called jokes”. Raghu and Rajeev from the Roadies “Attitude” fame have taken their so called “Attitude” to great depths. 🙂 . They play conjoined twins in the movie and I don’t know if the producers, directors or the actors saw the movie after completing it. Actually there is a movie shown at the end of the movie (see the movie to know about that) and I must say the feeling of the critic at the end of the movie : “Where is the director , I want to touch his feet” is the feeling I share after watching “Tees Maar Khan”. Thank God, Shahrukh Khan did not do this one, though Farah Khan did not take this well but this might be the best decision of Shahrukh’s career. :P.

The saving grace of the movie is “HOT” Katrina Kaif. The worst part is bad jokes on almost everyone in the film industry. Katrina would help the producers to atleast get their investment back. Go for this movie to watch Katrina Kaif.  Akshay kumar is going around with his neck vains swollen as he is almost shouting mindlessly across the movie, he is almost at his idiotic best. Take this movie as a DARE and wear light clothes as the brain gets heated because you are not able to understand what you are seeing..lol… that’s it…I can write about all synonyms of cheap if I keep writing about this movie. Go…. watch it… best of luck.

A love letter i wrote on a Friend’s Request

This is a letter i wrote for a friend who had a crush on one of his high school class mates but could never profess those feelings. It led to a brief affair and now that both parties have moved on I can safely reproduce it here.

I have never been sure whether what I felt for you was just an infatuation or true love. But lately I have come to realize that the vacuum in my existence is your absence. The darkness in my life is the loss of your laugh’s luminescence .Your image is as fresh to me as if it were yesterday when we parted our paths on this journey called life. I remember I used to lose myself in the limpid pools of your eyes. The sparkle of those eyes used to set my world alight.
Your sense of humor and that infectious smile that used to radiate joy; God, I still hear that music worthy of angels in my most pleasant dreams. Your caring nature further elevated your status in my eyes. I couldn’t find a pedestal high enough to place you upon. I thought time, the supposedly great healer, would ease the pain of your separation. But its passage has only made me sink deeper into the abyss of fruitless longing. I remember the first time I realized that I love you. The first time I experienced that ultimate joy tinged with pain unbearable, the entity called love. I was in seventh heaven yet down in the dumps at the same time. I remember those days when as friends we shared those special moments which later stood as lighthouses in the dark lonely existence your absence condemned me to. I remember the day I last saw you, the hollowness that I experienced then made me wish that my memories would seep out like blood from cut veins.
But forgetting you is something I can never do for your memories are the cornerstones of my sanity.
I miss you.
I love you..

These are few of my favorite lines from novels i read too long ago to write proper reviews for but recommend highly to any lover of the written story-
From-Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke-

“Long, long ago, (said the voice,) five hundred years ago or more, on a winter’s day at twilight, a young man entered the Church with a young girl with ivy leaves in her hair. There was no one else there but the stones. No one to see him strangle her but the stones. He let her fall dead upon the stones and no one saw but the stones. He was never punished for his sin because there were no witnesses but the stones. The years went by and whenever the man entered the church and stood among the congregation the stones cried out that this was the man who had murdered the girl with ivy leaves wound into her hair, but no one ever heard us. But it is not too late! We know where he is buried! Pull up the paving stones. Dig up his bones! Let them be smashed with the shovel! Dash his skull against the pillars and break it!Let the stones have vengeance too! It is not too late! It is not too late!

From One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey-

-While McMurphy laughs. Rocking farther and farther backward against the cabin top, spreading his laugh out across the water laughing at the girl, at the guys, at George, at me sucking my bleeding thumb, at the captain back at the pier… and the Big Nurse and all of it. Because he knows you have to laugh at the things that hurt you just to keep yourself in balance, just to keep the world from running you plumb crazy. He knows there’s a painful side; he knows my thumb smarts and his girlfriend has a bruised breast and the doctor is losing his glasses, but he won’t let the pain blot out the humor no more’n he’ll let the humor blot out the pain.

-He gave a cry. At the last, falling backward, his face appearing to us for a second upside down before he was smothered on the floor by a pile of white uniforms, he let himself cry out: A sound of cornered-animal fear and hate and surrender and defiance, that if you ever trailed coon or cougar or lynx is like the last sound the treed and shot and falling animal makes as the dogs get him, when he finally doesn’t care any more about anything but himself and his dying.

Due date-A review

From the director of the epic screwball comedy-“The Hangover” comes another great comedy that seems to be inspired by one of my all time favourite comedies-“Planes,Trains and Automobiles.”
Zach Galifianakis as Ethan (retained from “The Hangover”) is a man-child who is going to LA to pursue his dream of being an actor and Robert Downey Jr. as Peter is an uptight architect soon to be a dad. They make an unlikely pair for a road trip but circumstances force them to travel together from Atlanta To L.A. and what ensues is a comedy of errors.
They meet outside the airport as Ethan’s friend smashes the door off Peter’s limo. Following a current trend of taking a swipe at extremely jittery airports security they are thrown off the flight and put on the No-Fly list for just using the words ‘bomb’ and ‘terrorist’ even though Peter warns Ethan not to use them.
Having left his wallet in his luggage Peter is forced to travel with Ethan and discovers to his horror that Ethan has his dad’s Ashes in a coffee can. After some exasperating instances with Ethan he tries to ditch him but his conscience forces him to come back for him.
Lines like -My dad was like a father to me and the dog masturbation scene (how the hell did they train a dog to do that when commanded?) were really hilarious. The pot dealer(‘Herbal medicine practitioner’) and Peter’s friend who’s very close to his wife provide interesting cameos.
One of the funniest ,yet really tragic ,incidents from the movie is when they drink Ethan’s Dad’s Ashes as coffee and to calm him down Peter says he had a strong flavour!!

The movie has many side-splittingly funny( ROFL for the internet addicted) moments and good acting. The sequence with the Mexican border police where an unintentionally baked(stoned for the uninformed) Peter is rescued by Ethan being one of them.
Where it loses out is the fact that such comedy has been attempted before.
I would recommend a one time watch as it is a great destressor and guarantee you’ll come out smiling from the hall but don’t expect it to be as good as ‘The Hangover’.

Time Magazine’s Quote on Sachin Tendulkar

Posted: 23rd December 2010 by Aditya Mahajan in Thoughts

“When Sachin Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan to face one of the finest bowling attacks ever assembled in cricket, Michael Schumacher was yet to race a F1 car, Lance Armstrong had never been to the Tour de France, Diego Maradona was still the captain of a world champion Argentina team, Pete Sampras had never won a Grand Slam.

When Tendulkar embarked on a glorious career taming Imran and company, Roger Federer was a name unheard of; Lionel Messi was in his nappies, Usain Bolt was an unknown kid in the Jamaican backwaters. The Berlin Wall was still intact, USSR was one big, big country, Dr Manmohan Singh was yet to “open” the Nehruvian economy. It seems while Time was having his toll on every individual on the face of this planet, he excused one man. Time stands frozen in front of Sachin Tendulkar. We have had champions, we have had legends, but we have never had another Sachin Tendulkar and we never will.”
